Little film about little people in a little town. More exactly, a hash-slinging single mother with two teenage daughters in a trailer park in Laramie, New Mexico. You know it's serious because of the in-jokes: writer-director Allison Anders, minus one "l," is the signee of a stern note from the high-school principal, and executive producer (elsewhere director) Carl Colpaert is transformed into Carlos Colpaert on the poster of an imaginary Mexican movie. And then, too, the drama is highly undramatic. Fairuza Balk and Ione Skye are well cast as the sisters, and it's a big loss when Trampy Trudi (Skye) leaves town for an unwed mothers' home in Dallas. With Brooke Adams, Jacob Vargas, Robert Kuepper, and James Brolin. (1992) — Duncan Shepherd
