A band of vampires, looking more like a heavy-metal band, is out for blood. Well, yes, what else? But in particular the blood of the nosy youth and the Hollywood has-been who dispatched the vampire in the previous Fright Night. Too many tricks and special effects by half (or by three-fourths), but some of the night maraudings are pretty creepy, and the queen-bee vampire (Julie Carmen) is, or has, a striking figure, and the method of dispatching her is satisfyingly simple yet clever. The jokes can be abided with gritted teeth. William Ragsdale, Traci Lin, Roddy McDowall; directed by Tommy Lee Wallace. (1989) — Duncan Shepherd
