Off-screen buddies Robin Williams and Billy Crystal finally find a project that allows them to work together on the big screen. How nice for them. But what's in it for the rest of us? Another dull-witted Hollywood plunder of the commercial French cinema, in specific Francis Veber's Les Compères. The most original and imaginative aspect of it is to assign the beefy Williams to the Pierre Richard role and the shrimpy Crystal to the Gerard Depardieu (head-butts and all). With Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Nastassja Kinski; directed by Ivan Reitman. (1997) — Duncan Shepherd
