A Knight of the Old Code and a computer-generated talking dragon (cultured voice of Sean Connery) join forces to rid the realm of the evil ruler. Do all dragons talk? We don't know, because this is The Last Dragon, but no one in the late 10th Century seems taken aback by this ability. And nor is the knight-errant thrown off by an anachronism like the dragon's TV director's throat-cutting gesture when he wants to signal the knight to shush. It's all very juvenile, excepting the blatantly phallic stone columns at King Arthur's burial site, which rise all the way to adolescent; it's nothing to make you forget Dragonslayer. Dennis Quaid, David Thewlis, Pete Postlethwaite, Dina Meyer, Julie Christie; directed by Rob Cohen. (1996) — Duncan Shepherd
