Parochial Australian comedy, more innocuous than funny, but pleasant enough in any case, centered around the Parkes Radio Telescope -- a 210-foot dish "in the middle of a sheep paddock" -- and its vital role in the first NASA moonshot. Are the Aussies up to the challenge, or are they a bunch of "dickheads" out of their league? Two big crises -- a power outage and a gale-force wind -- test their mettle. Director Rob Sitch, torn between poking fun and taking pride, inspires no more confidence than the well-meaning fumblers on screen. Sam Neill, Kevin Harrington, Tom Long, Patrick Warburton, Genevieve Mody. (2000) — Duncan Shepherd
