Sexual harassment in the workplace: of a man, by a woman. It eventually comes to light (a dim, glimmering light at most) that the perpetrator was motivated not by lust but by a calculated scheme to oust the victim. Which would seem to transform her into more a Mata Hari than a mere Chauvinist Sow, and would seem therefore to derail the subject of sexual harassment. What's abundantly clear, regardless, is that the woman in the case is a ball-breaking bitch, and the man is a healthy-minded, hard-working guy who only wants to get ahead for his wife and his (seldom seen) kids, and the audience is supposed to hiss the one and cheer the other. What's clear, in other words, is that the movie, adapted from a best-seller by Michael Crichton, sinks swiftly to the level of a potboiler.
