While house-sitting at the posh home of one of her clients, a yoga instructor’s (Rosemarie DeWitt) husband (co-writer Jake Johnson) unearths a gun and what appears to be a human bone buried on the property. This plot gizmo is dispensed with almost as fast as it arrives. This leaves ample room for one of Joe Swanberg’s (Drinking Buddies) more relaxed actions-speak-louder-than-obligations character comedies. Wife heads off for a weekend with her sister, while husband and his friends stop short of turning the backyard into an archaeological dig. A tremendous advancement in both star power and technical surety, but don’t let the addition of 35mm, ’Scope, and a big(ger) name cast throw you: this is not a case of comprising integrity. Swanberg is maturing, tackling tough questions — do children limit parents? — without letting it go to his head. Call it a case of the anti-Apatow. With Brie Larson, Anna Kendrick, Orlando Bloom, and Ron Livingston. (2015) — Scott Marks
