Evil is afoot in Andrew Wyeth farm country, where a sect of isolationist religious fanatics identified as "Hittites" (they, we are told, "make the Amish look like swingers") keep guard against the influence of the "incubus," and turn a cold shoulder to the brazen Hollywood starlets who occupy the farms next door. Carefully done, if not always imaginatively. A couple of the scenes, especially the one of a car trying to outrace a blazing trail of gasoline, achieve a genuine nightmare quality, and the frantic wrap-up is quite pleasing, despite having one ending too many. With Maren Jensen, Susan Buckner, Sharon Stone, Lisa Hartman, and Ernest Borgnine; directed by Wes Craven. (1981) — Duncan Shepherd
