Chanel and Stravinsky. (The names arranged on screen in such a configuration as to give the impression the title might be Chanel Coco and Igor Stravinsky.) The Parisian fashionista, that is to say, who offered a haven to the expatriate Russian family-man composer, and eventually offered herself to him as a lover, with the inevitable clash of egos (“I’m as powerful as you, Igor, and more successful.” “You’re a shopkeeper, not an artist!”). The fleshing-out of the sketchy facts is sufficiently plausible and yet, aside from the fame of the names, not especially compelling. A strapping Mads Mikkelsen conjures the diminutive musician only in his eyewear, and Anna Mouglalis maintains an imperious self-confidence with little fluctuation in any direction. Satisfying re-enactment, first thing out of the gate, of the legendary premiere of The Rite of Spring. Directed by Jan Kounen. (2010) — Duncan Shepherd
