Everyone outside of Eric Roberts (his hair dyed a mustardy yellow) appears to be acting at half-speed. This histrionic cyclone represents a flag-waving, quasi-evangelistic troubleshooter for Coca-Cola, Inc., sent from the Atlanta home office to Australia, to find some unknown trouble in order that it might be fixed. ("Do not get angry," his corporate chiefs telex to their Australian branch. "Do not get scared either.") What he finds there is a single valley as yet unsaturated with Coke, and controlled by an independent soft-drink tycoon instead. We have here a situation which an Evelyn Waugh might have made something of. Dusan Makavejev, the Yugoslav expatriate, makes little. His sense of humor, less audacious here than before, is understated at best, telepathic at worst -- and more often the latter. With Greta Scacchi. (1985) — Duncan Shepherd
