Battle of the sexes update. A bout of drunken casual sex, sans condom, results in a result; and after abortion is given no more thought than it would have been given in 1957, the pair of "completely different people" set about to make it work when it makes no sense: she's a beautiful ambitious career girl, inexplicably bereft of male attention, who has just begun an on-camera job at the E! channel; and he's a casually sexist schlub who is half-heartedly, with his slacker housemates, trying to launch an utterly unoriginal celebrity-nudity website. (Underlying message, or wishful brainwash: boys will be boys, and women, no matter how beautiful or successful, should be willing to settle.) The basic lack of sense affords a rickety scaffold on which to hang some funny lines and funny bit-players (Kristen Wiig, Ken Jeong, Charlyne Yi), enough of these that you might care to risk it. With Seth Rogan, Katherine Heigl, Leslie Mann, and Paul Rudd; written and directed by Judd Apatow. — Duncan Shepherd
