Documentary proof that not every story needs to be a movie, The Big Uneasy performs the seemingly impossible trick of draining the passion from the story of Hurricane Katrina and the disastrous flooding of New Orleans in 2005. It’s certainly worth understanding the multiple factors that contributed to the levees’ failure, from disappearing wetlands to ill-conceived water-management projects to simple shoddy engineering. But that doesn’t mean those factors automatically make for strong visual narrative. And the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers makes a poor villain — more craven than criminal. (2011) — Matthew Lickona
