Morally neutered sex comedy, by Bertrand Blier, about a fourteen-year-old girl setting her cap for her thirty-year-old stepfather, a failed jazz pianist. A goodish amount of time is spent trying to make you feel sympathy for the two, to put you in a receptive frame of mind (since one of them is Patrick Dewaere, this is time wasted). Then the big question becomes: will they or won't they? A while later it becomes: will they or won't they a second time? And another while later: will they or won't they happily ever after? Believability is far less the aim than simple salacity. (1981) — Duncan Shepherd
