Once you get past the initial thought of, “Wow, Courtney Love has really let herself go,” you realize that what you’re watching is a documentary about the former front man for Throbbing Gristle and his decision to express his love for his lady fair by trying to look more like her: through dress and makeup, through plastic surgery, and ultimately, through breast implants. She tries to meet him halfway, but despite talk of their great love affair, the project feels more like Genesis’s ongoing attempt to assert his own autonomy. There’s a story to be told here, but we get precious little of it: even at 72 minutes, the padding distracts like a stuffed bra. (2012) — Matthew Lickona
