It must first be acknowledged that this self-proclaimed nuclear Reefer Madness is every bit as much a propaganda film as the 1940s and 50s relics it so confidently holds up to ridicule; and second be acknowledged that the assembled educational films, commercials, and newsreels, presented without commentary and without sufficient identification and/or background information, do not add up to any sort of cogent nuclear-sanity argument -- at least not one which will impress anyone but the already convinced. After these acknowledgments, the movie can be installed in its rightful niche as a nostalgia piece, an incitement to head-shaking and head-scratching, and greatly enjoyed as such. Directed by Kevin and Pierce Rafferty and Jayne Loader. (1982) — Duncan Shepherd
