Woody Guthrie's American Song
444 Fourth Avenue, San Diego, 92101
Peter Glazer's tribute to Guthrie chronicles the hard travelin' that defined the folk singer's life and career. A small ensemble cast and three-piece band perform a selection of Guthrie's tunes in the near two-hour musical revue. Though hardship and misfortune defined his short life, Guthrie's advocacy for the downtrodden lives in his legacy. A timely story in a modern age of social unrest, Intrepid Theatre's production is a reminder that "...ain't much difference between you and us." Worth a try.
