Virtual Ballet: Moving Forward
This Fall program lives up to its name, showing how the company is ‘moving forward’, even in a pandemic. City Ballet’s Resident Choreographers Elizabeth Wistrich and Geoff Gonzalez offer a diverse number of works, including: Gottschalk’s Tarantelle, a quick piece full of speed and high spirits; Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Pas de Duex, a lush, romantic duet for husband and wife dancers Ariana and Geoff Gonzalez; 123Brahms456+, a slightly quirky ballet that takes a whimsical look at the 1960s, and to close out the program Geoff Gonzalez premieres his The Fates, which was inspired by the three Greek Fates telling a new love story that transcends time. Audience members will feel a part of the ballet, as the camera allows them a personal involvement with the dancers while they are in compliance with the CDC guidelines. Released November 13, available through November 29.
