Giles Havergal's stage adaptation of the Graham Greene novel is sprightly, genial, and good fun. Or as much fun as you can have with just four actors taking numerous roles. While chiefly an ensemble piece, James Saba elegantly grabs focus as both Henry and Aunt Augusta, and David McBean shines as several colorful women. Richard Baird entertains mightily when he portrays characters from exotic locales. The adaptation, though very clever, bogs down at times with some boring narrative, and the character changes can become quite confusing. Marty Burnett's multi-purpose set is ingenious, and David Ellenstein directs with great style. Worth a try.
