Harold Hill is a travelling salesman with more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Maybe even more than even he knows. When he arrives in River City, Ohio, Hill plans to take the town's money, but ends up changing lives and giving his heart to the local librarian. The musical talent in the Welk's show is impressive. David S. Humphrey plays Hill with humor and a bit of tenderness opposite Charlene Wilkinson's lovely and commanding Marian. Alex Allen's Marcellus has wit and charm, and the school board quartet carries the show along to a sweet and forgiving ending. Worth a try.
