The Car Plays

Wild rides in parked cars. It's hard to compare these 15 plays to anything else in theater. Actors (usually two) perform a 10 minute scene inside a car. A two-person audience observes, also in the car and just a few feet away from tense drama, goofy comedy, or unexpected avenues of thought and emotion. (You sit so close, in fact, that you may not see everything). The La Jolla Playhouse, which offers the works in three, five play tracks, has extended The Car Plays an extra week. As word of mouth continues to spread, they may have to extend again.
