Sophie’s Gallery’s Doggos Show
140 Main Street, El Cajon, 92020
Cost: Free
St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center (SMSC) presents Doggos, a collection of collagraph prints. The artists of Sophie’s Gallery celebrate the special bond between humans and canines in a whimsical collection of collagraph dog prints. Collagraph printing, a low-tech medium that is non-toxic was invented in the 1950s. Artists built printing–plates using recycled paper glued to a rigid support that were inked and passed through a printing press twice. Collagraphic printing is a process that is a combination of intaglio and relief printing techniques. The first pass through the press makes the background and the second pass through the press creates the foreground of the finished prints.
