I love to learn about amazing people I never heard of and then wonder why they aren't better known. Until Henrietta Swan Leavitt studied photographs of the stars at Harvard Observatory, people assumed our sun was the center of the Milky Way (i.e. the entire universe). She exploded that notion but never got credit. Lauren Gunderson tells Leavitt's story with a strong first act but a weaker second. No matter, by Act two, early impressions carry the evening: Rachael Van Wormer's assertive portrayal of the fearless woman; Lamb's Players' ensemble cast; Robert Smyth's direction, and Sean Fanning's remarkable set (the entire dome of the Harvard Observatory). Worth a try.
