In Laura Eason's comedy, Ethan invades Olivia's "writer's retreat" sin rural Michigan and then invades her mind. He's written two best sellers about having sex with a stranger every week for a year (should have titled it 52 Pickups). Her only novel didn't sell. Their passion for writing spills into passion for each other. But is his amor genuine? She's supposed to have a novelist's eye. Can she be that gullible? You could call Sex with Strangers an impact play. It grabs (and entertains) as you watch. But looking back, it's just a slippery surface. But maybe that's the playwright's message about our day and age. Worth a try.
