Seven Spots on the Sun
Moises, the doctor of San Ysidro, a small village in an unnamed country wracked by civil war, quit medicine when soldiers murdered his wife.To his surprise, when a plague comes to the village his hands have healing powers. But will he save the child of the man who killed his wife? Martin Zimmerman's 90-minute drama combines reality with magic realism. It's obscure at times and hard to follow. Led by Jorge Rodriguez and Jennifer Paredes, outstanding as Moises and Monica (wife of the brutal solider), InnerMission Productions offers a raw, deeply emotional production, backed by the cast as a live soundscape. The company doesn't get all of Zimmerman's ambitious script. But more than enough for an evening of stark theater and a gripping conclusion. Worth a try.
