Seascape
In Edward Albee's evolutionary comedy, Nancy and husband Charlie did everything society demands: married, had children and grandchildren, worked hard - and now face the unknown. Enter Leslie and Sarah, human-sized sea creatures with the same dilemma. In the long second act, the quartet learns to face tomorrow. Director Kim Strassburger gives the production a much-needed balance between the real and the absurd (though the characters do go on). Wearing Shirley Pierson's excellent costumes, Justin Lang and Amanda Morrow excel as the creatures, their movements most of all. As Charlie, Jack Misset could abandon a foggy, James Stewart voice. Dana Case plays Nancy with gentle persistence and pitch perfect deliveries. Although the visuals are a delight, there's less here than meets the ear.
Worth a try.
