Star Trek meets Robbie the Robot meets Shakespeare's The Tempest. Everyone talks in iambic pentameter and sings hits from the early Sixties (Miranda, for example, wonders "Why Must I Be a Teenager in Love"). Prospero's a mad scientist. Along with a game, if overly-miked cast, New Village Arts has a set worthy of Star Trek (or Galaxy Quest), by Natalie Khuen, a blazing performance by Marlene Montes, and best of all, direction by Jon Lorenz, musical direction by Justin Gray, and choreography by Colleen Kollar Smith, whose touches and weavings bring freshness and humor to a meandering script. Worth a try.
