Red Planet Respite
It's 2044. Social media rules the world. All projects must be "liked," or they're doomed. Even on Mars, where the only funding for the "first interactive resort" goes to an entertainment pod. Circle Circle dot dot's premise has appeal, but the 75-minute first act spends way too much time explaining things. There are funny bits but no suspense or character development. Two exceptions: Jacque Wilke's hilariously eccentric Shannon Castron has been on Mars, alone, a long time. And boy is she ever happy to see people! And Soroya Rowley's Deimos is a TMI robot gives commercials along with directions. The design work is tops, especially Boyd Branch's videos and Matt Lescault-Woods' sounds and space (and spacey)-themed music.
