Teatro Mascara Magica has "sprinkled some salsa on Neil Simon's classic comedy." This Latino version, set in San Diego, stars Paul Rodriguez, the iconic comedian, as Oscar the slob, and Mike Gomez, the extremely versatile actor, as control freak Felix. The opening night had glitches, especially with some of the rhythms, but director Bill Virchis shot the piece with unflagging energy, John Iacovelli contributed a rags-to-riches set (it changes from Slob City to House Beautiful), and all in the cast contribute, especially Danielle Levin and Erika Toraya as the Pigeon -- er, Paloma -- sisters. And how one of them produces a Kleenex is worth the price of admission.
