Milk Like Sugar

In Kirsten Greenidge's drama, three young African-American women want something of more value in their lives. Since Margie is already "pg," the other two will become pregnant as well. Although the play could use tightening (mostly in the last third), the dialogue crackles like improvised jazz. Cherise Boothe, Nikiya Mathis, and Angela Lewis interact as if they've known each other for life. Tony Award-winner Tonya Pinkins excels as Annie's mother Myrna (a litany of dreams deferred). Toni-Leslie James's costumes define character to a T, especially Adrienne C. Moore's drab-clothed Keera. No one fits in. Bullied Keera least of all.
Worth a try.
