The world premiere musical gives country star Clink Black's songs a soft sell. The story, about an Army medic on leave from Afghanistan suffering guilt from a dead buddy, has the makings for powerful emotions. But the musical is also a Christmas show, and holiday spirits conquer all, even may have cured PTSD. A talented cast (especially Aaron C. Finley as Mike and DeLeon Dallas as Doug) must give life to underdeveloped characters and, as best they can, fill out a formulaic plot.
