Kubrick at the Angelika
The Angelika Film Center is branching out in the direction of more repertory screenings starting in April with a quartet from Stanley Kubrick’s canon. (Mercifully,A Clockwork Orangedidn’t make the list.) For those who have only experienced his work on a tablet (or worse), the detail furnished by a big-screen viewing may be difficult to compute. Those fearful of brain-overload can always find shelter in the last row. Unless you live in the vicinity of Carmel Mountain, Monday nights at the movies have always been a tough sell. I’m pleased to announce that all the films in this series screen on Wednesdays. (Coming soon to the Angelika, a cluster of film noir including the thrill craziest, kill craziest B-movie of ‘em all. More on that in May.) Here’s the Kubrick lineup: April 10:Eyes Wide Shut, April 17:Barry Lyndon, and April 24:Lolita.
