Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood!
Ken Ludwig's new play about the man, who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor, is more comedy than drama, more Disney than Monty Python. It does have an agit-prop, "to the barricades"-like message, but without much agit-, and less prop. lt's a morality farce, always entertaining, though puddle-deep. Ludwig likes to take a familiar subject and give it a friendly little warp. Here he inverts Robin Hood and Maid Marian. Robin's pretty much a stumbler, whiletheman in Sherwood green runs through Marian'sDNA.Director Jessica Stone sendseight actors on a non-stopsteeplechase, up and down stairs and through the voms at the Old Globe's WhiteTheatre.Best of show: bows shoot invisible arrows that become real when they hit their target [note: the Old Globe has extended the run].Worth a try.
