Inter-Tribal Council of Elders Gatherings
The San Diego Indian Health Center (SDAIHC), whose mission is to promote excellence in health care with respect to custom and tradition, is holding free weekly Inter-Tribal Council of Elders gatherings to improve the quality of life for American Indian/Alaska Native Elders, families, and children in the San Diego area in a respectful and traditional manner. The Inter-tribal Council of Elders meets at SDAIHC, every Saturday, in the health center’s community kitchen. Meetings are potluck style, and everyone is invited to bring a favorite dish to share. All family and friends are welcome to attend, and dates are subject to change. To improve the quality of life, the Inter-Tribal Council of Elders encourages attendees to maintain a connection to an active tribal community. This connection supports a healthy tribal identity with the goal of advocating for and improving access to services that ensure the safety and well-being of all elders so they can fulfill their roles as keepers of local history, customs, and traditions.
