Guided Nature Walk
Join a MTRP Trail Guide on a nature walk and learn about the plants, animals, geology, history, and ecology of the park. You will hike one of these scenic trails: * The Oak Grove Loop showcasing majestic coast live oaks, rare Engelmann’s oaks, and a Kumeyaay ‘ewaa (hut). * The Visitor Center Loop highlighting coastal sage scrub, chaparral, and riparian woodland habitats and the riverside grinding rocks, one of the archaeological sites in the park. These interpretive nature walks are offered to enhance your appreciation of the unique beauty of San Diego’s natural environment. With fall approaching the plants are producing seeds and getting ready to rest. The trails used are easy, but have uneven surfaces and some involve steps, so be sure to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring along water. A hat and sunscreen are also recommended. Cooler temperatures make for a great experience. Walks are canceled if raining.
