Grace
3704 Sixth Avenue, San Diego, 92103
Craig Wright wanted to write a play that said "there is grace, but it is a lot weirder than we think." Steve has faith. Stan, next door, and Karl the exterminator don't. Steve's wife has faith in him, for a while. Wright warps time and space (one room represents two condos, with no wall between), but the play's a bit schematic, like a debate, and the ultimate "weirdness" could be more convincing. But you can't fault stellar performances at Ion Theatre by Francis Gercke, Nick Kennedy, Rhianna Basore, and Jim Chovik. And Matt Scott's set could work for a play by Alan Ayckbourn.
Worth a try.
