Mark Hampton and Mary Louise Wilson's one-person play begins four months after Vreeland was fired. She's in her red -- all red, in different shades -- Park Avenue apartment, planning a posh dinner she can't afford. She takes the audience into her confidence and, among other things, gives us a master class on style. It takes Mercedes Ruehl about 10 seconds to become Vreeland; she captivates from that point on.
