Fiddler on the Roof
Moonlight should add a line to its pre-show announcement about no cell phones or photographs: please don't sing along to the great songs of Jerry Bock (music) and Sheldon Harnick (lyrics). The temptation's hard to resist, though. "Tradition" holds Anatevka together. Change will tear it apart. Tevye stands in the middle, battling the new and eventually adapting. David Ellenstein had some vocal problems on opening night, though he also had key aspects in place, including a fine rapport with the audience. Victoria Strong was just that as Golda, Tevye's harried wife. Change is part of the musical and the Moonlight production, since this is the last show Kathy Brombacher will direct as the company's Artistic Director. Looking back - and how "swiftly fly the years" - her achievements in the last three decades have been extraordinary!
Worth a try.
