Exit Interview
79 Horton Plaza, San Diego
Dick Fig, Brecht scholar, just got fired from a university and must do an exit interview with Eunice. She believes everything has a purpose, even that crazed gunman shooting up the school. Throughout William Missouri Downs' Brechtian sketch comedy, politics and religion snake dance. Sam Woodhouse gives a herky-jerky script a funny, jolt-filled treatment reminiscent of his historic Six Women With Brain Death. The cast obviously relishes the blackout skits geared to shake the audience into thinking for themselves. The play throws barbs at cows both sacred and profane. It is also cute and often silly. It's more sis- than boom-bah, but the Rep's manic staging keeps it entertaining throughout.
Worth a try.
