What a treat! Irene Sankoff and David Hein's world-premiere musical has found a manger of hope amid the devastation of 9/11. On that day planes from around the world were diverted to Canada, 38 to Gander, Newfoundland. The passengers couldn't have been grumpier, or more horrified, the citizens more generous. The result was a makeshift miracle. Under Christopher Ashley's splendid direction and Kelly Devine's choreography, the show unfolds like a single, kaleidoscopic sequence. The performers, all in multiple roles, are tops, and the Celtic-inflected music propels the 100-minute piece throughout. Critic's Pick.
