Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story
The iconic stylings of the legendary rocker, Buddy Holly, are compiled into this musical spectacle. Helmed by charismatic Paul Swenson Eddy as Buddy, New Village Arts and Intrepid Theatre's show has a lot to offer; great music, fine singing, and hand-clapping production numbers. Though Alan Janes' script is weak in construction and bland in dialogue, and the production has some over-amplification issues, it's clearly an audience pleaser. Others that shine under Christy Yael-Cox'senergetic direction are Manny Fernandes as The Big Bopper, Econi Muse ad Marlena Madison, and Shaun Tuazon as Ritchie Valens. Christopher Scott Murillo's unit set, with moving panels and effective projections, works well to help tell the story of Holly's short, but eventful life [note: the showhad a successful run at Horton Grand Theatre].Worth a try.
