Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story
The iconic song stylings of the legendary rocker, Buddy Holly, are compiled into this musical spectacle. Helmed by charismatic Paul Swenson Eddy as Buddy, New Village Arts and Intrepid Theatre's show has a lot to offer: great music, fine singing, and hand-clapping production numbers. Though the script by Alan Janes is weak in construction and bland dialogue, and the production has some over-amplification issues, it seems to be an audience pleaser. Others that shine under Chrislty Yael-Cox's energetic direction are Manny Fernandes as The Big Bopper, Econi Muse as Marlena Madison, and Shaun Tuazon as Ritchie Valens. Chirstopher Scott Murillo's unit set, with moving panels and effective projections, works well to help tell the story of Holly's short, but eventful life.Worth a try.
