Fans of Jimmy Buffett won't be let down by this musical, with 20+ songs by King Parrothead. Strong voices (especially Paul Alexander Nolan, Alison Luff, and Lisa Howard) and a top-notch band (musical supervision by Christopher Jahnke) do full justice to "Margaritaville," "Cheese Burger in Paradise," and "Come Monday," and the others. But the book, which unfolds like an old beach movie, plus dancing zombies and an erupting volcano, does not. The songs come first, and one can almost see the story hustling to accommodate the next one. The Christopher Ashley-directed show is entertaining, but the script still needs to find a shaker of salt. Worth a try.
