Around the World in 80 Days
Phileas Fogg has 80 days to circle the globe in Mark Brown's stage adaptation of the Jules Verne novel. Accompanied by his valet, Passepartout, Fogg runs into a host of problems: chased by Detective Fix , saving the orphaned Indian princess Aouda, traveling through a typhoon, and surviving a Native American raid. At North Coast Rep, five actors play dozens of characters on a sparse stage with a world map backdrop. Omri Schein, in the role of Passepartout, is a standout comedian with impeccable timing, facial expressions, and unexpected gymnastic skills. The script is filled with witty writing and politicalincorrectness, and even a few dropped props are handled with humor.Worth a try.
