American Buddhism in Daily Life
American Buddhism, as practiced at DharmaCenter, has three components: Meditation, Mindfulness, and Managing Energy. We call it M to the Third Power. Incorporating these 3 practices into your daily life can enable you to live a calmer, happier, more peaceful life. Meditation helps you to calm your mind and consciously focus on a single point of concentration. It helps rein in the monkey mind and bring it to the stillness of a purring kitten. Mindfulness is a tool to help you to bring focus to your activities of daily living. It increases your awareness of where your mind is every minute of every day and helps you to shape your thoughts and responses to situations. Managing energy is about becoming aware of the subtle energy affecting you, in the bio-field surrounding your body, in the larger external environment, and in the internal energetic system that propels you - your built-in life force.
