The 1940s Radio Hour at New Village
2787 B State Street, Carlsbad, 92008
Cost: $44 - $47
Under the nurturing care of director Dana Case, aboard for the second time with this play at New Village Arts, the actors are also part of this immersion because they give so much to the audience. Eric M. Casalaini again gives us a highly energized, but finely modulated portrayal of crooner Johnny Cantone, and Kelly Derouin 's Ann Colliere, a band singer of the era, is a heartfelt portrait. Returning from last year's production: Marlene Montes as Ginger Brooks, who gives powerful versions of "Daddy" and "Blues in the Night." Worth a try.
