Guided Nature Walk
Join a MTRP Trail Guide on a guided nature walk. Walks are free and open to the public, with no camping or reservations required. Learn about the lush riparian habitat of the Kumeyaay Lake shoreline, home to many birds, animals, and unique plants. The Park is constantly changing; with Fall, the trees change color, you can clearly see mistletoe in the Hickory Trees, and migrating birds stop over at the lake. The trails used are easy, but have uneven surfaces, so be sure to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring along water. If you want to extend your walk, you can easily connect with the Grasslands trail which offers an overview of the Dam and a Kumeyaay grinding rocks site. A hat and sunscreen are also recommended. Walks are canceled if raining.
Walks start from the Kumeyaay Lake Campground Entry Station.
