The Rocking Horse Winner (1949. 91 minutes): D.H. Lawrence’s enigmatic short story blends magical realism with a dash of social commentary and a pinch of the supernatural. A sensitive young lad (John Howard Davies), desperate to please his mother, discovers riding his rocking horse induces a trance-like state in which he can predict racing winners. With John Mills and Valerie Hobson.
Film Forum Coronado is held in the Winn Room at Coronado Public Library, on the first and third Wednesdays with an introduction before the film and a discussion afterward, led by Ralph DeLauro.
