NAYAK - The Hero (1966. 117 minutes): Satyajit Ray seamlessly integrates rueful flashbacks with surreal dream sequences in this sly, satiric, psychologically rich meditation on art, fame and regret. A brash matinee idol (Uttam Kumar) on the brink of his first flop is sent reeling down the path of self-examination when interviewed by a journalist (Sharmila Tagore) while on route to receive an award.
