Mainly Mozart All-Star Orchestra Festival
The Mainly Mozart All-Star Orchestra Festival celebrates its 35th season. Under the baton of Maestro Michael Francis the festival will return to the open-air Del Mar Surf Sports Park and will expand to two new festival venues: the Conrad in La Jolla and UC San Diego’s Epstein Family Amphitheater. The opening night performance features LA Philharmonic Principal Whitney Crockett performing Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto in a program that also includes works by Gossec and Beethoven. Saturday, June 16, pianist Anne-Marie McDermott joins the All-Star Orchestra to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 25. Works by Beethoven and Michael Abels round out the program. The following night, Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, violinist Karen Gomyo, hailed by the New York Times as “extraordinary”, performs Brahms’ Violin Concerto in a program also featuring Mozart’s Grande Fantaisie in C minor.
