Summer with Monika (1953, 98 minutes): Inspired by the earthy eroticism of Harriet Andersson, Ingmar Bergman turned out this sensual and ravaging tale of young love. A rebellious young girl and a conservative young boy from working-class families run away to spend a secluded romantic summer at the beach. It’s not long before they are forced to return to reality.
